Alumni Poetry Reading In-Person
Join us for a celebration of Duquesne's impressive tradition in poetry. Joining us will be four alumni poets:
Brian Tierney
Brian is a 2014-2016 Wallace Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University and earned his Master’s in English from DU. His poems have appeared in or are forthcoming in AGNI, Best New Poets 2013, The Kenyon Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Narrative, Free State Review, and others.
Ellen McGrath Smith
Ellen teaches at the University of Pittsburgh and in the Carlow University Madwomen in the Attic program. She holds an MFA in poetry from the University of Pittsburgh and a PhD in Literature from Duquesne University. Her poetry has appeared in The American Poetry Review, Los Angeles Review, Quiddity, Cimarron, and other journals, and in several anthologies, including Beauty Is a Verb: The New Poetry of Disability and the forthcoming Rabbit Ears: The First Anthology of Poems About TV.
Brianna Brown
Brianna Brown is a senior English and Integrated Marketing Communications Major at Duquesne University. In her current work, she is interested in exploring the clash between nature and industry in local Pittsburgh communities.
Robert Giannetti
Robert is a poet, alumnus, former antiquarian book seller, and recent donor of a first edition of Edmund Spenser’s “The Faerie Queen” to the Gumberg Library’s rare book collection. He earned his Ph.D. in English Renaissance Literature at Duquesne. He has published two books of poetry, Winter Vision (2011) and Drawn by the Creek (2003).
