What We Brought with Us Exhibit

What We Brought with Us Exhibit In-Person

The Center for Migration Displacement and Community Studies, Gumberg Library and the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts are proud to sponsor the exhibit “What We Brought With Us,” an exhibition of things people took when they fled persecution, suffering, and war. Refugee things aren’t always judiciously chosen; they may be selected in haste and confusion, but also come to carry new symbolic weight. The exhibit forces us to confront the question of what things are the most precious to each of us and what would we take with us if we were forced to leave everything behind.

The exhibit will be on display in the Popular Reading Room on the 4th floor of Gumberg Library January 13-31.

Dr. Lydia Schmuck, Academic Coordinator at the Academy in exile, will be leading a conversation about the exhibit on January 23 (1:30-3:30) in the Popular Reading Room. All are welcome.
