Day of the Dead Altar Installation and Blessing In-Person
The Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is an ancient tradition in many Latin American countries. Professor Mildred López Escudero will explain the customs, and lead the decoration of a communal altar honoring the dead. Fr. Dan Walsh will bless the altar, and Professor Carmen Martínez will provide musical inspiration. All are welcome to send messages to loved ones on cut out monarch butterflies, and to sample spicy hot chocolate and Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead). The altar will be on display until November 12.
Free and open to all. Sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, Gumberg Library, and Spiritan Campus Ministry.
