Women in Science Respond to Lab Girl: A Panel Discussion In-Person
Gumberg Library invites you to Women in Science Respond to Lab Girl, a panel discussion focusing on the themes found in Hope Jahren’s celebrated 2016 memoir. This conversation will feature Duquesne faculty members and alumni sharing their insights and experiences as women working in the sciences.
Lab Girl documents Jahren’s successes and sacrifices as she navigates financial instability, mental illness, and a field traditionally dominated by men. Panelists at this event will speak on topics such as: establishing a laboratory, competing for funding, balancing work and life, and their experiences with gender issues in science. Panelists will also offer advice for women pursuing careers in science.
