Social Justice Reading Club: Book Discussion of Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu

Social Justice Reading Club: Book Discussion of Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu In-Person

Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu has been selected as the Fall 2021 book for the Social Justice Reading Club. Members of the Duquesne community are invited to READ-WATCH-DISCUSS this entertaining novel that shares the experiences of an Asian-American family of actors. Winner of the 2020 National Book Award, it has been described as an ambitious satire about race, pop culture, immigration, assimilation, and escaping roles we are forced to plan.

Join a discussion of Interior Chinatown with Dr. Emad Mirmotahari, Associate Professor of English, and Dr. Sara Baron, University Librarian, on Thursday, November 4 at noon at Gumberg Library. Complimentary copies are available at Gumberg Library, on a first-come, first-served basis. Email Maggie Coburn coburnm@duq.edu to request a copy. The first 30 pages are also available on e-reserve. The password for access will be sent to everyone who registers for the discussion.

RSVP is requested and lunch will be provided.

For more information about the novel, author talk, and book discussion, please see the Social Justice Book Club website. Sponsored by Gumberg Library, and the Center for Excellence in Diversity and Student Inclusion.

The Social Justice Reading Club was started in 2018 to unite and engage faculty, students, and staff in meaningful dialogue around a good book. For more information,  please contact Sara Baron, barons1@duq.edu.
