Vanka’s Ghost and Other Local Hauntings
Tom White, Duquesne University Archivist and local historian, will tell the story of famed Croatian artist Maxo Vanka’s experiences with a spirit while painting his murals at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Millvale, along with stories of other local hauntings.
Ted Bergfelt, Humanities Librarian, will give a brief book talk on The Muralist’s Ghost, a novel about Vanka written by Karen Mocker Dabson. Copies are available at Gumberg Library and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
This event is paired with the Gift to America 2 exhibit of contemporary works inspired by Vanka's murals on display at Gumberg Library. Both are free and open to the public.
